Do you offer partial flake and full flake systems?
Yes. We offer both partial flake and full flake garage flooring systems. Partial flake uses a lighter scatter of decorative flakes so the coloured base coat remains visible. Full flake uses a dense broadcast of flakes to cover the base and create a more continuous decorative appearance. The coating build and clear finish are selected for the chosen coverage and your garage conditions. How much does garage flooring cost?

Can you coat old or previously painted concrete?
Often, but not automatically. Existing coatings, contamination, weak concrete and moisture must be assessed before the system is specified.
Is epoxy or polyaspartic better?
Neither is universally better. Epoxy can provide a strong build and design base; polyaspartic may be selected for UV exposure or faster return-to-service. The right answer depends on the complete system and site conditions.
Do you install the floor?
ALKA manufactures the system and supports suitable projects through selected local applicators. We do not present every project as a direct ALKA installation.

Prepare the tyre paths
Oil, silicone dressings, old sealers and weak concrete can impair adhesion. The applicator should identify contamination, mechanically prepare a sound surface and repair defects before priming. Grinding alone does not guarantee that deeply absorbed oil has been removed.
Detail the doorway
Check rain entry, falls, the garage-door seal and the transition to the driveway. Preserve required movement joints and finish exposed coating edges with a suitable termination. A decorative coating does not correct a slab that drains into the garage.
Agree the finish in real light
Compare a finished sample at the open doorway and under garage lighting. Flake coverage, clear-coat sheen and slip texture change both appearance and cleaning. Include workshop use, tyre heat and sunlight in the brief.

Will hot tyres lift the coating?
Hot tyre contact is a selection and installation issue, not a guarantee implied by the word epoxy. The substrate must be sound, the complete coating schedule suitable for vehicle service and the floor fully cured before parking. Report tyre marks or softened areas early so the cause can be checked.
When can I park or put cabinets back?
Agree separate dates for walking, furniture placement and vehicles using the selected products’ cure schedule and actual site temperature. Touch-dry is not full cure. Avoid dragging cabinets and use appropriate load-spreading protection once the coating is ready.
How do I clean tyre marks and oil?
Remove loose grit first, then use a cleaner compatible with the finish at its recommended dilution. Allow the appropriate dwell time, agitate with a non-damaging pad and rinse or recover the residue. Test an inconspicuous area before using stronger cleaners; do not assume solvents are suitable.
Can cracks return through a new floor?
Yes, moving cracks can reappear. Static defects may be repaired before coating, while movement requires an appropriate joint or crack detail. Ask the applicator to distinguish cosmetic repairs from structural or moisture-related defects.
