Metallic effects respond to pigment, base colour, application technique and lighting. They are deliberately variable: a small sample sets the direction, while the installed floor develops its own pattern across the space.

Confirm compatibility with ALKA. The decorative layer, pigment and clear finish must be approved as a complete schedule. Product names in the selection table are review options, not an interchangeable recipe.

Approve a representative sample
Use the intended base tone, pigment combination, finish and lighting. Agree acceptable variation and the amount of movement or contrast.
Keep substrate details visible in the plan
Cracks, repairs and movement joints require decisions before the decorative layer. Metallic effects do not remove the need to respect moving joints.
Agree the maintenance expectations
Glossy finishes can highlight fine scratches. Use entry protection, suitable cleaning equipment and furniture protection, and retain the product schedule for future repairs.

Will my floor look exactly like the image?
No. The image is a design concept and metallic patterns vary with application and lighting. Approve a representative physical sample and acceptable variation before installation.
Is this a numbered ALKA metallic system?
This page describes a project-specified decorative pathway. ALKA should confirm the compatible products and complete build for the intended application.
Can metallic epoxy be used in direct sunlight or wet areas?
Those conditions require specific review of the full system, including the clear finish and texture. Do not infer UV or wet-slip performance from the metallic appearance.

Make the substrate visually ready
Metallic effects can emphasise unevenness, repair outlines and application marks. Assess moisture, cracks and surface profile, then include the necessary repair or levelling stage. A glossy decorative layer does not conceal poor substrate preparation.
Approve a complete sample
Use the intended base colour, metallic pigment, binder and clear finish. Review movement, contrast, sheen and slip texture in the actual lighting. Record the agreed sample and understand that hand-applied patterns vary across a larger floor.
Protect the installation window
Control dust, airflow and access during application and cure. Plan wet edges and practical work boundaries with the applicator. The pigment, resin and topcoat must be compatible; decorative appearance alone does not establish a usable formulation.

Use the current TDS and safety data for the exact product and supplied kit. Confirm substrate preparation, moisture limits, mixing, coverage, coat thickness, recoat intervals and full-service cure. Where a direct PDF is not listed, request the product-specific document from ALKA technical support before proceeding.
More answers for your project
Will my floor look exactly like the image?
No. Metallic movement is created during application and is not a printed repeat. Images help select a direction; a physical sample gives a better indication of colour and finish. Expect natural variation in swirl, contrast and the way light reflects.
Can metallic flooring be used outdoors?
Only with a complete schedule explicitly approved for that exposure. A UV-stable clear finish does not automatically make the underlying decorative layers suitable for weather, moisture or thermal movement. Discuss doorways and strong sunlight as well as fully external areas.
Can it be repaired invisibly?
Local repairs can be technically possible, but matching a hand-applied metallic pattern is difficult. Agree repair boundaries and realistic appearance expectations. In highly visible areas, a larger decorative recoat may be preferable after the underlying cause is corrected.
Will a clear coat prevent all scratches?
No. A compatible clear finish can provide a maintainable wear surface, but grit, sharp furniture feet and dragging can still mark it. Use entrance matting, appropriate furniture protection and a cleaning method suited to the selected sheen.
Is the finished metallic floor slippery?
The decorative effect does not determine traction. Specify the required surface assessment and texture for the location. Added texture may change the visual depth or gloss, so approve appearance and performance together.
Make the quote a complete scope
Ask the proposal to identify preparation and repairs, the selected ALKA products, coating stages, finish sample, joint and edge details, installation stages and the permitted return to service. Include cleaning instructions and the technical documents in the handover so future maintenance follows the installed system.
